Bangladesh Open University (BOU) has approved its annual budget for 2016-17 financial year in 151st Board Meeting of the university held in BOU city office. The meeting announced the budget amounting Tk 212 crores 3 lakhs 3 thousands. Tk.212 crores 3 lakh 3 thousand are approved for revenue head and Tk. 23 crores 23 thousands for development head.
University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) will provide Tk. 62 crores 65 lakhs as govt grant which is 29.55 per cent only in the revenue budget. Tk 110 crores and 35 thousands has been financed from BOU`s own sources which is 70.45 per cent of the revenue budget.
Meanwhile, Tk 161 crores 72 lakhs 17 thousands in revenue head and 19 crore 88 lakh 35 thousand in development head are also approved in the revised budget for the fiscal year 2015-2016.
A total 42.36 per cent of the budget will be spent for academic purpose while 41.10 per cent will be spent salary allowances, 11.13 per cent in general services and remaining will be spent in capital expenditure and pension head.
The Treasurer of BOU Prof Dr Md. Abu Taher placed the budget in the meeting while BOU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr MA Mannan presided over the Budget meeting.
Prof Dr Md. Abu Taher used the technology of Network, CPM, PERT, Gantt chart, Milestone Budgeting while implement the budget of financial year 2016-2017.
