Due to non conducting of eviction drive, both sides of Khulna-Jessore, Khulna-Bypass, Khulna-Satkhira and Khulna-Bagerhat highways are still under the occupation of illegal grabbers.
Local people alleged that some illegal grabbers have occupied both sides of Khulna high ways, as a result, road mishaps are occuring repeatedly.
Khulna road division sources said, under Khulna road division, there are 130 km roads. Among them the length of Khulna-Jessore highway is 33.89 km, Khulna-Bypass 26.54km, Khulna-Satkhira 33.65 and Khulna-Bagerhat is 9 km. However, both sides of these highways have been occupied illegally by building shops, temporary markets, different political party offices, bill boards and brick built buildings since long.
Traffic conjestion and road accidents are occuring due to the grabbing government lands illegally.
According to sources, an eviction drive was conducted in the month of February at Koya and Gallamari areas on Khulna-Satkhira highway, but illegal land grabbers have occupied the lands again.
Md. Shariful Islam, state & law officer of Khulna road division said, “Whenever we get allegation, we take proper steps, of course, regular eviction drive would be launched from now in order to free both sides of highways from illegal grabbers.
