Basanto (Spring), the ‘king of seasons’ receives a warm welcome in Barisal city on Thursday with both joy and enthusiasms.
It draws the picture of the colourful season’s transition from dry,dull and drab winter.
Pahela Falgun, the first day of spring in the Bangla seasonal calendar, has been greeted singing ‘let there be flowers bloomed or not, today spring is knocking at the door’.

The Bengali month Falgoon was celebrated with traditional festivities in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district .Different socio-cultural organisations of this upazila celebrated the Falgoon.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Rangpur Sahitya-Sangskritik Parishad (RSSP) celebrated the traditional Basanta Utshab to welcome the first day of Falgun, the 11th month of Bengali Year, through daylong programmes on Friday in the city.
RSSP, a renowned cultural and literarily organisation, arranged discussion, recitation of self-composed poems, poems of noted poets, rendering songs and cultural evening focusing on love and influence of Basanta on Bengali culture and life.
Former president of RSSP and noted cultural personality Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu presided over the discussion styled ‘”Ashe Basanta Fulbone, Shaje Banobhumi Sundari arranged on the premises of Town Hall.
Founding president of RSSP, former head of the Bangla Department of Rangpur Carmichael College, noted educationist and literary personality Prof Mohammad Alim Uddin attended the occasion as the chief guest.
