Harvesting of Boro paddy has started everywhere in Rajshahi region including its vast Barind tract with a good sign of high yield production.
This season farmers here have expected a fair price despite the cultivation cost if weather will remain favorable during the harvesting period, said the concerned sources.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), around 66,212 hectares of land brought under Boro paddy cultivation this season across the region. But now the cultivators are being able to cultivate paddy on 69,300 hectares of land. They have already crossed the previous year’s cultivation limit.
Meanwhile, Godagari and Tanore upazilas, a Barind track area of the district had brought under huge paddy cultivation .The growers here have been passing busy time for harvesting paddy in their field.
During a recent visit in different places of the district, it was seen that more of paddy has started already ripen in the fields. Farmers will remain so busy in full swing within fifteen days in their fields for harvesting paddy.
Maynul Islam Tulu, a farmer of Belkhoria village in Tanore upazila of Rajshahi district, said the farmers have got a bumper production of paddy in this season. The harvesting process is still now ongoing in this area. But all of cultivators are worrying for crisis of laborers because the syndicate of laborers has increased of their wages, also said Maynul Islam.
Agriculture officer of Paba upazila in Rajshahi AKM Monzure Mowla said that almost paddy of different fields of this upazila have started to ripe. If there are not happened any natural calamities, farmers will achieve here better production of paddy. Even, they also may earn extra profit this year.
According to the deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) in Rajshahi Dev Dulal Dhali, due to satisfactory market price, the farmers have brought more of land under Boro paddy cultivation in this season. If weather will remain favorable during the harvesting period, the cultivators will achieved high yield production of paddy with a fair market price, he also hoped.
