Boro paddy farming target achieved in Gaibandha

 Target of Boro farming in the district during the current season was achieved with an expectation of bumper production of paddy.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has set a target to bring a total of 1,25,325 hectares of land of all the seven upazilas under boro cultivation with the production target of 5,04,425 tonnes of rice this year.
Later, the target fixed by the department was achieved easily due to favorable climatic condition and available of agri inputs including fertilizers and insects.
Of the total, some 19,630 hectares of land were brought under the cultivation programme in Sadar Upazila, 14,925 in Sadullapur Upazila, 12,775 in Palashbari Upazila, 30,550 in Gobindaganj Upazila, 24,100 in Sundarganj Upazila, 15,050 in Shaghata Upazila and 8,295 in Fulchhari Upazila.
Now, the farmers of the district have become so much busy to nurture the crop land and are putting best efforts to get desired output, this correspondent found it while visiting different places of the district.
To make the cultivation a success, necessary measures have been taken to supply fertilizers, insecticides, electricity and other agri inputs to the farmers at fair prices side by side ensuring with irrigation facility, said crop production specialist of the DAE Golam Mostafa.
