Boro farmers passing busy time in Gopalganj

Boro farmers of remote areas in the district are passing a busy time for preparing their shed-bed for Boro cultivation this current season.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Gopalganj official sources said, a total of 55 metric tonnes (MT) of High Yielding Variety (HYV) & High Brid seeds will be grown on 3,876 hectares of land in the district this year and they preparing their seedbeds, particularly in the low-laying areas in the hope of growing healthy seedling for better yield after transplantation of those crop land.
About 70 percent seedbeds had already been prepared and the rest would be completed around December this month, DAE official sources said. To make the programme for success Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), Gopalganj, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) & Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) are being distributed high quality of seeds like BIRI Dhan-58, BARI-26, 28, 29 & BINA-10, 14, 16 among the farmers at reasonable prices, sources said.
