Boro farming is progressing fast in all the seven upazilas of the district during the current season amid much enthusiasm.
The cultivation is in the last stage as 92 percent lands have already been planted in the district.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has fixed the target to cultivate Boro paddy on 1,27,716 hectares of land with the production target of 5,04,477 tonnes of rice.
According to DAE office sources, farmers have already planted seedlings of Boro paddy on 1,17,751 hectares of land till February 10. Deputy Director of DAE Dr M Rafiqul Islam said the cultivation will be completed within a week.
To make the cultivation a success, necessary measures had been taken to supply fertilizers, insecticides, electricity and other agri inputs to the farmers, he added.
