Due to the manpower crisis in the 50-bed Upazila Health Complex of Borhanuddin in Bhola, about 2 lakh people are not getting proper health care. On the other hand, the patients who come to the hospital are not following the minimum hygiene rules. Although 20 corona patients have been identified in the last one week to reduce the infection, the hospital does not have a covid specialized unit. Critical patients are sent to Bhola Sadar Hospital or Barisal. Hospital authorities say the 20-bed male ward is ready for covid patients. So far they have 20 oxygen cylinders in stock. There are also adequate stocks of medicine for those patients.
According to hospital sources, 601 corona patients were identified till last Friday. Most of them have taken treatment at home or elsewhere. Only 19 people have recovered from the isolation in the hospital. Of these, 13 are men and 9 are women. According to the manpower structure, there will be a total of 30 MBBS doctors including 21 in the hospital and 9 in the Union Health and Family Planning Center.
At present there are 9 doctors working in the hospital including the union level. One of them is a doctor working in deputation in Barguna district. Out of 3 technologists in pathological lab, 1 is on paper. He is also working in the PCR lab at Bhola Sadar Hospital in deputation. Pathological Lab With the help of 1 lab assistant, corona is identified and regular examination of patients is going on. Out of 11 posts of Deputy Assistant Community Medical Officer, only 2 are working. Besides, 13 people are working against 20 posts of staff nurses. There is also a severe manpower crisis in other positions.
The X-ray machine found in the hospital about 10 years ago has broken down before any service could be provided due to lack of radiographer.
