A discussion meeting on “Felani and Border” was held at Sagar-Runi Hall in Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 10.00 am under the chairmanship of KM Rakibul Islam Ripon, President of the organization.
As the chief guest, BNP standing committee member Babu Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, “No country can be called independent without sovereignty.” In fact, the sovereignty of Bangladesh is gone. The Indian BSF shoots and kill people like birds on the Bangladesh border. Felani is a burning example of this.To date, the government has not been able to do justice to Felani and his family. Due to the impractied foreign policy, the non-voting government has survived with the help of the police. The United States has banned people who are obedient to the government. Even after fleeing abroad, ministers like Murad had to return to the country.The government should resign immediately in this situation. India still maintains its hegemonic attitude towards Bangladesh. The present undemocratic government has completely failed to protect border security. So we have to take the people to the streets in our movement.
BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said it had been many years since we had talked about Indian atrocities, but to date no acceptable solution had been found. On the one hand, we talk, on the other hand, they continue to kill people on the border.On January 7, 2011, Felani, a 15-year-old girl, was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) while returning home from India with her father through the Anantapur border in Fulbariupazila of Kurigram. His body was hanging on the barbed wire fence for hours.We say not only of Felani’s body, but also our sovereignty was hanging over the barbed wire fence. Our sovereignty is still hanging. Because after his death, his parents have not yet received justice for Felani’s murder.
Bir Muktijoddha Abdus Salam, Advisor to the chairperson and convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP, said Khaleda Zia has been jailed without any guilt. No bail was granted. The government should think about the future. Government’s subversive attitude causes insecure border.
“India is exploiting us,” said Dr Mostafizur Rahman Iran, Chairman of the Labor Party. They are inflicting a kind of torture on us by killing the border. Myanmar is exporting yaba. In this way our freedom is being curtailed. Bangladesh did not do a single part of what the Indian BSF fired on the border. But Bangladesh has bought a lot of weapons;
Also present at the discussion were Mr. Habibur Rahman Habib, Advisor to the BNP Chairperson, Abdus Salam, Co-Organizing Secretary and other young leaders.
