Bangladesh Border Guard emerged as champions as they beat spirited Bangladesh Navy in the final by 29-27 points of Independence Cup Kabaddi competition by 29-27 points held on Thursday at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium at Mirpur.
Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) was the organizer of the meet and Bashundhara Group were the sponsors of this competition.
In the hard fought final, Border Guard Bangladesh had to sweat hard as they led by 17-12 at the breather.
Sports Minister Dr. Biren Sikder MP gave away the prizes among the winners as chief guest.
Border guard received a trophy and Taka two lakh cash prize.While the runners-up Bangladesh Navy had to remain satisfied with cash prize of Taka one lakh.
The two semifinalists Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Navy were given cash award of Taka 50,000 each.
Participating teams:
Group A – Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Fie Service, district phase champion team and third place finishers of district phase team.
Group B – Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Jail and runners-up team of district phase.
