Speakers at a training course on cow fattening here have stressed for boosting the animal husbandry sector to accelerate rural uplift through bringing self-reliance to the poorer section of people.
They were addressing inaugural ceremony of the week-long training course organised by the Upazila Youth Development Department with the assistance of Balua Ganokendra Library at Balua Government Primary School in Pirganj upazila on Saturday.
Thirty youth and unemployed males and females of the area have been taking part in the training course to be continued till January 3 to achieve practical knowledge and expertise on cow fattening and rearing of cows at home.
Assistant Director of the District Youth Development Department Mahfuzar Rahman attended the inaugural ceremony and formally launched the training course as the chief guest.
With President of Balua Ganokendra Library Saiful Islam in the chair, Pirganj Upazila Youth Development Officer Abul Kalam Azad, local elite Rawshan Miah and Masudar Rahman addressed the ceremony as the special guests.
The speakers said hundreds of rural people, including unemployed poor and distressed women, have already achieved economic self-reliance and well-being through cow fattening, rearing cows and selling milk in recent years.
The chief guest asked the participating rural male and female youths to attend different sessions of the week-long training course attentively to acquire practical knowledge for boosting the prospective sector to accelerate economic uplift in rural areas.
