Barrister Omar H Khan, the writer of ‘Legal Stories of Life’ has placed his mark in the contemporary legal arena both locally and internationally.
Apart from core legal services, his research works have also been published in international journals which give him the opportunity to participate in prestigious international conferences.
‘Legal stories of life’ is a compilation of more than 130 real life stories from the lives of people with their legal solutions. It is not a traditional law book; this book is for others also. To readers, it will appear like a story book which contains paintings by internationally proclaimed painters and photographers that make it more interesting.
Our society has to build a culture of abiding law. Unless we adopt the mentality of respecting the basic norms and laws, we cannot move ahead.
This book is an attempt of the writer to contribute to our progress in respect of upholding law and justice and a law-abiding society.
The book serves as a direct reflection of the legal issues that general people face a wide range of areas including family matters, property and inheritance issues, criminal matter etc. Many of the writings are based on very contemporary issues, including, for example, social networking.
It is expected that this book will be a basic guidance to the readers in all walks of life and it will serve as an effective tool of awareness of the laws, and the basic rights. Through this book the readers can shape their understandings of the legal principles learnt through practical experience, demonstration and application. It is also expected that the young generation will regain trust in the legal system.
The contents of the compilation include Family Law-15, Criminal Law-51, Employment Law -133, Property Law -187, Corporate Law- 233.
‘Legal Stories of life’ is a compilation of Barrister Omar H. Khan’s write ups that the Daily Star has been publishing mainly in the ‘Your Advocate’ column of ‘Law & Our Rights’ page for the last decade. He responded to the correspondents who put forward the legal problems they faced and sought his advice in the matters. Mr Khan explained the legality of the situation and suggested solution. The writer has updated them for their publication and the laws are updated as of end of May 2018.
The Preface, the Foreword and the Messages in the book speak of its importance to contribute for a law abiding society.
The book has been dedicated to the parents of the writer.
This book can be an excellent resource to students, educationists, educators, young lawyers and the people at large.
We expect wide circulation of the book. n
