As rain scare goes, the book-lovers on Tuesday crowded in the Ekushey Book Fair. Most of them were youths who looked for books on science fictions. But the supply being scare, they became frustrated, despair.
The book selling rate was good on the day, said the publishers
The books on science fiction drew the attention of the youths on the day, Students from schools, colleges and universities assembled there in large number to buy science fiction books.
Abul Hasnat, Sales Executive of Nagori Publication, told The New Nation that the demand for science fictions is high. The youths, mostly students, come to the fair and buy the books on science fiction.
“The youths search the books of reputed science fictions. The sale of the books is satisfactory,” Hasnat said.
Sirajul Kabir Chowdhury, Director of Anno Prokash, said that the sale of books was better than the previous day despite financial lose due to rainfall.
“Science fiction is a new form of literature and the new generation accepts this,’said the writers.
“I feel good to read the books on science fiction. I have read the world’s noted science fiction’s books. I have bought a book on science fiction named Cyclone by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal,” said Mahadi Hasan, a Second Year student of Dhaka University.
Meanwhile, the Bangla Academy premises and the Suhrawardy Udyan were teeming with visitors. Crowded changed the scenario fair after two days flagging circumstances.
It was the busiest day for the publishers as adequate number of visitors crowded in front of the stalls of the book fair. The sale of books was also satisfactory, the publishers said.

This year, around 770 units have been allocated to 499 publishing houses and organizations for sale of books and publications in the month-long book fair.
Additionally, 24 pavilions have also been allocated to the publishing house and 155 stalls allocated to 180 little magazines.
The stalls for the mainstream publishing houses have been placed inside the Suhrawardy Udyan while government organisations and the Bangla Academy occupied the Bangla Academy compound.
The fair will be open for visitors from 3:00pm and will continue till 8:30pm.
On holidays, the fair will run from 11:00am to 8:30pm. On February 21, however, the fair will open at 8:00am and will close at 8:30pm.
