Abir Rayhan :People from all walks of life, especially the youths, crowded the Bangla Academy premises on Tuesday, the second day of the month-long Amar Ekushey Boi Mela-2016.The whole Dhaka University campus, particularly Curzon Hall, TSC and Suhrawardy Udyan, wore a festive mood in presence of the booklovers. Seven new books arrived yesterday. The new books include Story book, Novel, Article, Rhyme, Poetry, Health and the translation.Dr. Anis Ahmed’s “Valobasha Ferey Ferey Asey” published by Muktachinta and Ali Imam’s “Rahsa Are Rahsa” published by Ahmad Publication are among the new books.Anis Ahmed told New Nation that this year he wrote only this book. “I hope that this book will create readers of its own,” he said.At 4:00 pm a discussion titled,”Bangla Academir Hirokjoyanti: Bangla Academike Ferey Dekha” was held on the main podium of the academy.Professor Md. Abdul Qayyum presided over the function, while Shafiul Islam presented the keynote. Mohit Kamal, Fazle Rabbi, Azizur Rahman Aziz, Begum and Akhter Kamal were present there as the discussants.Later, a fascinating cultural festival was held on the main podium of the academy. The artistes were Subir Nandi, Sugit Mostafa and Ifat Ara Nargis among others.For celebrating the Amar Ekushey and Diamond Jubilee of Bangla Academy, a day-long international Poetry Festival will be held today (Wednesday) in the Abdul Karim Shahittabisarat Auditorium of Bangla academy. The first session of the festival will be held at 10:00 am and the second session at 4:00 pm.The poets from Slovakia, Morocco, Sweden, China, Taiwan, UK, India and Bangladesh will perform the festival. The authorities have allotted a total of 651 stalls ti syear.
