Bangla Academy to publish 107 new books: Book fair draws huge crowd

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2022 drew a large crowd on Friday, as it was the weekly holiday.
 Men, women, and children thronged the fair full of festivity and excitement.
The presence of children was remarkable in the morning while the number of visitors of all ages increased from the afternoon.
Besides, stalls of Bangla Academy have drawn the attention of book-lovers with different kinds of books featured at its six stalls on the fourth consecutive day at the Amar Ekushey Book fair -2022.
Currently, books of 76 categories have been featured at the Bangla Academy stalls which include Dictionaries and Encyclopedias, History, Geography, Philosophy, Mathematics, Science, Education, Journalism, Language movement, Liberation war, Culture and biography.
While visiting the stalls, people were seen gathering and making crowd at the stalls while the stall attendants were seen busy in describing the features of different books and selling.
Since its establishing, the Academy had published 5,390 books till February 2022.
Bangla Academy will also publish 107 new Books at the Book Fair where 44 books will be
published on It’s theme’s golden jubilee of the nation’s independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
There are six stalls of Bangla Academy to exhibit and sell books on Book Fair, where two were located to Bangla Academy premises and others four were SuhrawardyUdyan.
“The sales are satisfactory from beginning”, said Jalal Ahmed, Bangla Academy’s Director of Sales, Marketing and Reprinting Division and Member Secretary of Amar Ekushey Book Fair organising committee.
“We hopefully that the purchaser and visitors are gathering from the beginning, it will be frozen within a few days. The Bangla Academy stalls sold book worth of Tk around 12 lakh on the first two days of beginning”, Jalal added.
Nahida Akhter, stalls manager of Bangla Academy, said, “Overall, what is being sold at the beginning is very good.” Asking what kinds of books were being sold more, he said, “Bangabandhu’s Prison Diary, New China-1952 and dictionaries, encyclopedias are being sold more.”
“Academic and job related books like dictionaries and encyclopedias, language movement, liberation war and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman written book are selling too much”, sale representative Shah PoranRashed said.
History of Amar Ekushey Book Fair, History of Bangla Literature, Raseler Jonno Valobasha (Love for Rasel), Shoto Vaskorjo O Mural a Bangabondhu (Bangabandhu in Sculpture & Mural), Chhotoder Bangamata (Bangamata for Children), Bangabandhu Adorsher Subornorekha (golden line of Bangabandhu’s ideology, Bangabandhu ke Nibedito Galpo (story dedicated to Bangabandhu), Bangabandhu’r Sanskrit Vabona ( thoughts of Bangabandhu’s culture) were already published at Fair.
On Friday, February 18, the fourth consecutive day of the fair, a discussion was held titled “Celebration of Ekushey February in the international arena” and “Golden Jubilee of the country’s independence: Literature and culture of Bangladesh in the spirit of liberation war”.
