A Book Fair by Prothoma Publication started at the Mehedibag Road, Shaheed Mirza Lane Campus of Southern University of Bangladesh in Chittagong. The Vice-Chancellor of the University Mohamed Ali inaugurated the Fair on Monday.
Vice-Chancellor said in his inaugural speech, “The book is the source of our comfort and inspiration. A civilization cannot imagine without books. He mentioned the first Book Fair by Prothoma as students friendly.
Biswajit Chowdhury, the joint secretary of the Daily Prothom-Alo gave the welcome speech. He said the Prothoma Publication was founded five years ago and already has published more than two hundreds of books on the market.
The former president of the Bangla Department of Chittagong University, Khaleda Hanum; Pro Vice-Chancellor of Southern University, Sharifuzzaman; Registrar, Momtajul Islam Chowdhury; president of the Department of Business Administration, Ishrat Jahan; Assistant News Editor of Daily Prothom-Alo, Omar Kaiser attended among others.
The Fair will run continuously till August 27, 2014 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Organizers said books will be sold with a discount of 30 percent in this Fair for the benefit of students and teachers of Southern University.
