A Book Fair-2022 began at the Independence Memorial Premises on the campus of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).Socio-cultural organisation ‘Gungun’ and cultural organisation ‘Ranon’ of the university are jointly organising the fair that will remain open from 3 pm to 9 pm daily till march 25 next. Book reviews, instant lectures, recitations of poems, workshops, kite festival and cultural function will be arranged daily on the fair premises. Vice-Chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Hasibur Rashid formally inaugurated the fair by cutting ribbon at a function held on the fair premises at 3 pm on the twentieth instant.

Professor of the Department of Accounting of BRUR Umar Farooque in the chair, reports BSS.Head of the Department of Management Studies Professor Dr. Matiur Rahman attended the function as special guest.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts of BRUR and President of ‘Ranon’ Professor Dr. Tuhin Wadud, Director of the External Affairs Office Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury and Deputy Director of the Public Relations, Information and Publication Division Mohammad Ali were present. A total of 27 stalls have been set up by different book publication houses of Rangpur and Dhaka and literary and cultural organisations on the fairground.
Addressing the function, Mayor Mustafizar Rahman Mostafa put emphasis on arranging book fairs frequently in educational institutions at all levels to inform the young generations about the rich Bengali literary heritage, culture and tradition.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Hasibur Rashid suggested everyone to read books for upholding the spirit of the great Language Movement that sowed the seed of the struggle for the ultimate national independence. “The people of all ages should read books for acquiring and enriching knowledge to enlighten them for building a progressive nation in spirit of the War of Liberation,” he said.
