Bonanza for Betar artistes suggested

The fourth meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the information ministry decided to form a three-member parliamentary sub-committee for increasing the honorarium of Bangladesh Betar artistes and absorption of its ad-hoc employees permanently.
Tarana Halim was made the convener of the subcommittee, while Mrinal Kanti Das and Saimum Sarwar Komol were made members. They will submit a report on the matter.
Besides, the standing committee also discussed ways and means to give an institutional shape to the operation of the cable television network and also ensure that these channels uphold the national spirit including the Great Liberation War in the broader national interest.
The meeting was presided by chairman of the committee, A K M Rahmatullah, MP, while other members including Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu, MP, Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh, MP, Mrinal Kanti Das, MP, Saimoom Sarwar Komol, MP, and Tarana Halim, MP, participated.
Others who were present included Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed, Principal Information Officer Tasir Ahmmed, Director General of the National Institute of Mass Communication, A K M Nesar Uddin Bhuiya, Managing Director of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Director General of Bangladesh Television, Abdul Mannan, Director General of Bangladesh Betar, Kazi Akhtar Uddin Ahmmed, Director General of Directorate of Films and Publications, Md Liakat Ali Khan, Director General of Mass Communication Directorate and other concerned officials.
