Our Correspondent :A truck loaded with large quantity of pre-primary books of the National Curriculum Textbook Board (NCTB) came under the attack of the anarchists near the Hamdard University at Gazaria under Munshiganj district slightly before dawn on Monday.Police and eye-witnesses said that the truck bound for Laxmipur district, came under the sniper attack at about 5.05 am. The attack generated big flames on the truck damaging a substantial quantity of the books. “I didn’t understand instantly what to do when the flames was getting ferocious. I had to press the break paddle hard,” driver of the truck Harun-ur-Rashid said while narrating the incident. He also suffered wounds.Police later confirmed that the object had been a petrol bomb. On board workers of the truck in association with the locals finally succeeded dousing the fire. An official of the East West Media Group Limited and the consigner of the laden goods on condition of anonymity said that nearly 40 thousand text and exercise books had been on the truck. “It’s simply a naked attack on the backbone of the nation to spoil the future generation,” he lamented asking more attention from the authorities concerned for quick and safe dissemination of the books. A senior official of the National Curriculum Textbook Board (NCTB) while talking to this correspondent strongly condemned the incident and termed the attackers as the agents of the ‘anti-state elements’ who had long been trying to spoil overall growth of the nation. Police administration in Munshiganj claimed to have been taken up the incident seriously and deployed additional forces to round-up the attackers. The damaged truck has already been taken under the custody of the Munishganj police station. Driver and helper of the truck have been sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital after giving primary medication at the local hospital.
