BoI to hold ‘International Investment Forum-2014’ in city today

The Bard of Investment (BoI) is going to organize an International Investment Forum-2014-in the city on Wednesday aiming at attracting local and foreign investment.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to open the seminar where investment opportunities and incentives the government is offering to the investors will be highlighted. Over 600 investors from 21 countries, including Bangladesh, will attend the daylong seminar.
“Our prime objective is to encourage local and foreign investment . . . we have a plan to give participating investors a clear idea about our investment climate and facilities,” BoI executive member Navas Chandra Mandol told BSS.
The local and foreign investors will have an opportunity to exchange ideas with a view to increasing intra-regional investment flows in South and East Asia, he said, adding that opportunities in sectors such as light engineering, power, agro-based industry and communication infrastructure will be highlighted in the forum.
“BoI has received enormous response from foreign investors as over 150 investors have already registered their names for participation,” he said, adding that over 500 local investors are expected to participate in the seminar.
