Boi Mela visitors on rise

More and more book lovers have started to throng the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela.
Long queues were seen for the first time this year at every entry points of the Boi Mela on Thursday. Extra law enforcing agencies have been deployed to avert any untoward incident at the Mela.  
The publishers also expressed their satisfaction over increasing trend of visitors’ turn out at the Boi Mela. They hope that the negative scenario would change soon.
Md Nasir Uddin Selim, owner of Mizan Publishers, told The New Nation that the presence of book lovers is increasing day by day. The selling of the books is also rising, he said.
Meanwhile, one hundred new books arrived and four books were unveiled on Wednesday.
Of the new books, 22 are storybooks, 13 novels, three essay books, 31 poems, four on research, two children literature, five on biography, one on drama, one on travel, one on history, two on politics, one on health, three on science fiction and 11 on other subjects.

Ali Azam Babla, Ekmutho Dodrur by Afroza Akhtari, Ache Mukti Ache Swadhinota by Syeda Tran Akhter, Ghuri Jatra Swaib Muhamad, Nadi o Nari by Mahabub Khan Apon, Sajghorer Satkahan by Labonno Lipi, Nil Bedona by Sohag Ashraf, Motir Bondhu Bagavoot by Delwar Hossain, Dur Ha Dusshashan by Nirmolendu Goon, Dreams by the apple tree and Snowf Lakus keep Falling on my head by Rumana Chowdhury and Ferari Bihonggo by Gobindalal Das.
A discussion on “Shishu Songgothok Rokonuzzaman Khan Dada Bhaier Nabbaitomo Jonmobarsha” was held in the main podium of the Bangla Academy in the afternoon.
Artist Hashem Khan presided over the function while Khalek Bin Joinuddin presented a keynote paper. Mahbub Talukder, Ali Imam and Lutfar Rahman joined the discussion. A fascinating cultural programme was held in the evening.
A discussion on “Poet Abul Hossain will be held in the main podium of the Bangla Academy in the afternoon.
Manjure Mawla will preside over the function while Dr Tarique Mortaza will present a keynote paper. Baitullah Kaderi, Anu Hossain and Himel Barkat will join the discussion.
