Amar Ekushey Boi Mela got momentum on Friday, as it was a holyday and the authorities declared the day as ‘Childern’s hour'(Shishu Prohor).
The book fair witnessed a large number of children with their parents.
Zubayed Islam, a former student of Jahangirnagar University, visited fair with his five years son. He said, “I visit the fair once or twice a week.
“As today (Friday) is Shishu Prohor, I have come to the fair with my son. Now my child is cheerful to see lots of books and different beautiful stalls. The joy of buying new books know no bounds,” he said
Publishing houses did a brisk business yesterday. Books sales are rising day by day as people have started buying books, said Robin Ahmed, Publisher of Shrabon publication.
Two hundred and fourty one books landed and of them sixty-four books were unveiled on the main podium of the fair.
Some of new books were “Rajnoitik Sankot Uttorone Koroneio” of Bodiul Alam Majumder and “Aphorisms of Humayun Azad” of Humayun Azad published by Agami Prokashoni, “Sangbad Potrer Prothom O Ses Patay” of Prodip Kumar Pandey published by Bangladesh Press Institute, “Kabya Samogra” of Baitullah Quadery published by Lekha Prokash, “Ma-Meyer Upakkhan” and “Gaa Chamcham” of Emdadul Haque Milon published by Kotha Prokash, “My Unfal Gotable Memories” of Mamota Benarzi published by Annadhara publication, “Islamist Radicalization” of Mostafizur Rahman and “Bishom Dabar Chale” of Syed Ishteak Reza published by Shrabon publication.
For celebrating Amar Ekushey at 9:30 am, a contest titled “Shisu Kishor Songit Protijogita” was held on Friday on the main stage of the Academy. The result of children’s-youth’s drawing contest was published.
A discusson titled ” Ashir Doshoker Kobita” was held on the main stage of the Academy. Rabbi Rahman presided over the function, while Kumar Chakraborti presented the keynote paper. Maksudul Haque and Aminur Rahman Sultan participated as the discussants.
Latter, a cultural function was held on the main stage of Academy.
At 4:00 pm a discusson titled ” Nabboi Doshoker Kobita” will be held on the main stage of the Academy. Sajjad Sharif will preside over the function, while Mostak Ahmad Din will present the keynote paper. Shahid Iqbal and A M Masuduzzaman will participate in the discussion.
At evening, a fascinating cultural function will be held.
