Police have recovered body of a man from Buriganga River at Dhaka’s Keraniganj.
The eyes of the unidentified victim, in his 30s, have been gouged out and a leg has been hacked off, police said.
The corpse was found at around 11am on Monday in Borhishur area, said Keraniganj Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Abul Kashem.
Police retrieved the body after locals informed them, he said.
The man was wearing a black and white check shirt, he told bdnews24.com.
Apart from gouged out eyes and severed leg, SI Kashem said there were several sharp weapon
wounds on the victim’s body including on his head.
He said, they suspect the man was murdered at least six days ago and then the body was dumped on the river.
The body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
