Dead body of a woman was recovered from a room of Hotel Fair Star, a residential hotel at Mawlana Enayetullah Sarak of Falpatty area in the city on Wednesday noon.
Shah Md. Awlad Hosain, officer in charge of Barisal Kotwali police station, said police visiting the spot found that the victim was named as Mahima Islam (21) from Wari area of Dhaka in the hotel register.
Rafikul Islam, manager of the hotel, said one Siam Alam from Nayabazar of Narayanganj city with mobile phone no. 01629264963 rented the room No. 309 on Tuesday morning identifying the women as his wife.
The hotel staff knocking the room for receiving lunch-order found the body of the woman hanging with ceiling fan of the room and husband was not there. Then hotel authourity informed the police, the hotel manager told.
CID team of police recovering the body sent to the Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College morgue for postmortem lodging a case of unnatural death, police said.
