The slaughtered dead body of a youth named Naanna Shaikh (25) who was missing from Morrelganj Upazila headquarters in Bagerhat on Thursday was recovered from Gabtali point of the river Panguchi by the police on Saturday.
The autopsy of the dead body was done in Bagerhat Sadar Hospotal on the same day. The deceased was a cattle trader and son of one late Karim Shaikh of No.6 Bhaijor Ward of Morrelganj Pourashava and he was a cattle trader. The reason behind the murder of the young man could not be ascertained till the writing of this report.
Md. Rashedul Alam, OC of Morrelganj PS told the newsmen, the deceased went out of his house on Thursday in the morning in connection with the business purpose, but he did not return home till the late hours of the day. His relatives search hither and thither, but no trace of him was found.
On the following morning, a GD was lodged with the local PS by one of his relatives. Police searched him at various places through wireless. But the result was zero. In the following morning some locals found floating the dead body of Nannu in the river Panguchi at Gabtali point and informed the police.
Police rushed to the spot, recovered the dead body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy. His throat was found cut with sharp knife and some stabbing marks were noticed on the belly and some other points of the dead body.
