Barisal Correspondent :The dead body of an elderly woman had been recovered from her bed room at Mamtaj Villa on the Sagordi Karikar Biri Branch Road, Ward No. 25 of Barisal City Corporation area on Monday night.The victim has been identified as Mamtaj Begum, 65, wife of Abdul Karim Hawladar and mother of five sons and four daughters. Ataur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Barisal Kotwali Police Station, visiting the spot said that the deceased’s husband had gone to Dhaka for treatment leaving her alone in the residence. Their children live separately in other areas.Nargis Begum, wife of eldest son of the victim, coming to meet her mother-in-law found the door closed and got no response despite repeating knocking. Then she through a window noticed that her mother-in-law’s motionless body was lying on the floor.Nargis called the neighbours and informed of it to the police through local Ward Councilor Ziauddin Sikdar.Police breaking the door found the dead body of Mamtaj Begum. The different parts of the body, the face and the head in particular, were found chopped. Police recovered a sharp weapon beside her body.After recovering the dead body, police sent it to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital at about 8:00 PM. “The investigation has begun”, said the OC Kotwali PS told.
