A dead body of a daylabour was recovered from a pond in the village Dhanapota within Betaga Union Parishad under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat by Fakirhat police on Saturday morning. The body was identified as Babul Shikari (35), son of one late Shafiuddin Shikari of village Hakimpur within Khanpur Union Parishad under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila.
Police said that in the mooring some locals found the dead body floating in the pond and informed the police of the matter. Being informed of the matter a police squad led by Md. Mizanur Rahman, ASP, Circle and SI Bidhan Chandra Roy of Fakirhat Model PS, rushed to the spot, recovered the dead body and sent the same to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for its autopsy. A mark was noticed on the neck of the dead body. It is guessed by the police that he was, perhaps, strangulated to death by the miscreants and the dead body was thrown into the pond. Md. Abu Zahid, OC of Fakirhat PS confirmed the matter and told, the cause behind the death will be found out very soon.
