A Chinese man’s dead body has been recovered from a garden in the city’s Banani area on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Gaojian Shi, 50, a business man by profession. He also supplied special items of foreign stones to Padma Bridge Construction work.
Following Information, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Crime Scene unit went to the spot and dug out the body, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) (Gulshan Division) Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Abdul Ahad.
According to local sources, the gardener saw new soil in one corner of the garden. Later, he dug out the area and saw the body while cleaning the place, then called the police.
The deceased lived with his wife in the building. She is currently in China. The deceased was a stone importer.
His maid said that she last saw him on Tuesday evening.
Police suspect that the man was murdered sometime during the night.
Police recovered the body in an open space beside his house at about 12:30pm., said Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Noor-e-Azam.
He was residing on a flat of House- 82 of Road-23. The body was found buried near the house.
Police said, family members of the victim went to China 20 days ago, he added.
The reason behind the death is still unclear, he further said.
Meanwhile, three security guards of the building were taken to local police station for interrogation.
