UNB, Keraniganj :Police recovered the body of a schoolboy from a plastic drum at a house in Lakerchar area here on Tuesday four days after his abduction.The victim was identified as M Abdullah, 11, a class five student of Mugarchar Government Primary School and son of M Badol Hossain of Lakerchar under Keraniganj Model Police Station.The victim’s family members said Abdullah went out of his house on Friday noon to play with his friends and did not return home. Later, the family members filed a general diary with Keraniganj Model Police Station on the day.On Saturday, the kidnappers demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom from the family members over mobile message.Abdullah’s grandfather (mother’s father) Marfat Ali said they sent Tk 2 lakh to the bkash accounts of the kidnappers on the day but later their phone number got switched off.On the other hand, a team of the police station arrested the mastermind of the abductors, Mehedi, from Rajbari on Monday and later arrested four others from different areas.According to the statement of Mehedi, police recovered the body of Abdullah from the drum on the rooftop at the house of Mehedi, near the house of Abdullah, at Lakerchar around 3pm on Tuesday, said sub-inspector of Keraniganj Model Police Station Shafiqul Islam.Police said the criminals poured acid on the body after killing him, he said.Outraged by the incident, local people rushed in and torched the house of Mehedi around 4pm.A tense situation was prevailing in the area over the incident.
