Police say that a woman has been raped and murdered at Joinabari in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
The deceased was identified as Bulbuli Begum, 35, a worker at Maxcom International Ltd in the district’s Hemayetpur area. She hailed from Sirajganj district.
The body was recovered from Joinabari on Friday night, said ASP Abul Bashar of Savar Model Police Station.
Bulbuli was found strangled by a rope. An initial investigation found the evidence that she was raped before murder, said the police official said.
Her family has been informed of her death, he said. A case will be filed, he added.
The body has been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for a postmortem, the ASP added.
