The body of a man who had gone to rent a house in Chittagong city was found by police with his hands and feet tied with rope.
Three others had been seen with the man and police was looking for them now , said Bayejid Bostami Police Station OC Md Mohsin.
The victim, in his mid-twenties, has not yet been identified. He was found wearing a blue shirt and black jeans.
The body was found in the third floor toilet of a four-storey building in West Shahid Nagar on Wednesday night, said the OC.
“The hands and feet of the body were tied with rope. Initial investigation suggests a rope was used to choke him to death.”
According to the landlord, three men and a young woman had come to the house and asked to look at a flat on the third floor, claiming they were interested in renting it.
“They said the flat was to their liking and the pregnant wife of one of the men told the landlord they wished to move in immediately. The woman and two of the men then left, saying they would return with the furniture. They told the landlord one of them would remain behind to clean the flat.”
The body was found that night by the landlord’s wife.
“The landlord’s wife found the door open and, not hearing any signs of life, entered the flat. She then found the body in the toilet and called police.”
