The jail authorities have formed a three-member probe panel, led by DIG (Prisons) of Dhaka division Golam Haider, to look into the death of BNP assistant organising secretary Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu.Pintu, a convict in BDR carnage case, was declared dead at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Sunday afternoon when he was taken there from Rajshahi Central Jail.Contacted, DIG (Prisons) of Rajshahi division Bazlur Rashid said the three-member probe body was formed on Sunday night. The two other members of the committee are senior jail super of Mymensingh Central Jail Iqbal Kabir Chowdhury and senior jail super of Kashimpur high security prison Mizanur Rahman, he added.BNP and Pintu’s family members alleged that the government in a planned way killed Pintu in jail. The allegation, however, was refuted by the state minister for home as well as by the jail authorities. Assistant sub-inspector of RMCH police box Chanchal said Pintu was taken to the RMCH at noon after he complained of chest pain and breathed his last at the hospital around 12:20 pm.However, Dr Rais Uddin, head of RMCH cardiology department, said Pintu died of cardiac arrest before he was taken to the hospital.
