The bodies of a mother and her daughter were recovered from a house at Chowdala Puratan Bazar under Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Saturday.
The bodies were identified as Ayesha Siddiqua, 25, wife of Apel Mahmud and their daughter Raisa Mahmud 5.
Apel Mahmud is an employee of non-government organization ASA and lived in a rented house there with his family. They hailed from Shibganj in the district.
Officer-in-charge of Gomostapur thana Golam Mortuza said, Apel went to his office at around 7 am and returned home for lunch at around 1 pm.
Although he knocked at the door several times, he got no response from inside the house.
Later, he phoned his wife but yet got no response. At this, he informed the locals and police of this.
