Police recovered the bodies of a woman and her two children from their house in Belabo upazila of Narsingdi on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at Babla village of Patuli union of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Rahima Begum, 36, wife of Gias Uddin Sheikh and her son Rabbi Sheikh, 12, and daughter Rakira Sheikh, 7.
According to the locals, a woman went to Rahima Begum’s house at around 8:00am and saw the blood through the bottom of the door. Seeing the blood, she started shouting. Hearing her shout, neighbours rushed to the spot and broke open the door and found three bodies on the floor.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Later, the bodies were sent to Narsingdi Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
Safayet Hossain Palash, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Belabo Police Station confirmed the matter to the New Nation saying that we have already arrested Gias Uddin Sheikh, husband of Rahima Begum and father of two children. In the primary interrogation, Gias Uddin confessed to the killing.
Family members said that Gias Uddin Sheikh worked as house painter at Kapasia upazila of Gazipur district.
The details behind the killings could not be known immediately, but we think the incident may occur due to the family dispute.
Besides, it was known that the killer Gias Uddin Sheikh had loan burden. He was also addicted to gambling in the local area, OC added.
