Bodies of 4 women recovered in city

Police recovered the bodies of four women, including a private university student from separate areas in the capital on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as – BRAC University student Afrida Tanzil Mahi, 21, hailed from Uttara area, Tamanna Akhter Bithi, 18, hailed from Ramna area, Mahenur Akhter Mou, 18, hailed from Khilkhet and Hanufa Begum, 55, hailed from Badda.
Uttara Purba thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Jane Alam said that Afrida, a resident of Uttara Sector-8, Road No 12, was a first year student of English Department in BRAC University. According to her family members, she allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan. She was recovered and moved to United Hospital in a critical condition where on-duty doctor declared her dead. Police recovered the body early Tuesday.
Ramna Police Station SI Abdul Quddus said police recovered the body of Bithi from a fifth-storey house in Moghbazar’s Dilu Road in Ramna. She allegedly committed suicide over family dispute.
Khilkhet Police SI Md Shafiqul Islam said police recovered the body of Mou, wife of one mason Rakib Hossain, from a teen shade house in Khilkhet area. She also allegedly committed suicide by hanging.
Badda Police SI Abdul Karim said that Hanufa used to work as a housemaid in one Yasin’s house in Uttar Badda area. She also allegedly committed suicide. Police recovered her body and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The matter is being investigated.
