St Martin tragedy: Bodies of 2 more missing students found

Bodies of two more students of the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), out of the four missing, were recovered on Wednesday morning from the sea near the Saint Martin’s Island at Teknaf. The bodies were seen floating in the Bay by fishermen. Two others remained missing till filing the report in the late evening.
Earlier on Monday, two students of the AUST drowned and other four remained missing in the Bay after they had gone there for swimming.
St Martin Coast Guard Station commander Lieutenant Shahid Al Hassan on Wednesday told media that a group of fishermen found the first body around 9:00 AM when they were fishing at the island. The fishermen traced the second body in the same area around 11:15 AM and informed the members of Bangladesh Coast Guard. The bodies of other missing students could not be traced until last evening.
The four missing students are Shahrier Islam Noman, Sabbir Hasan, Uday Mahmud and Ghulam Rahim. The bodies of Shahrier Islam Noman and Sabbir Hasan were recovered. The ill-fated drowned students, who were recovered on Monday, are Montizul Islam Evan and Saddam Hossain. All of them are the students of the Department of Computer Science of the private university of Dhaka, said the university authorities.
Lieutenant Shahid Al Hassan said that Navy, Coast Guard and the locals were jointly conducting the operation in the Bay to rescue the other two missing students.
A group of 34 students of the Department of the Computer Science of the university came to the island from Dhaka to celebrate Pahela Baishakh and went into the sea for a bath on Monday afternoon. All the students had gone to the sea during low tide.
