Two persons have gone missing after a boat capsized in Kharil Beel in Sylhet Sadar Upazila due to strong current and storm on Monday morning. Divers began searching for the missing at multiple locations in Kharil Beel.
Earlier, a boat sank in the middle of Kharil Beel around 10:30 pm on Sunday (May 15). Six people in the boat swam ashore but two are still missing. They were going to Kalaruka from Rayergaon.
The missing persons are Ashkandar Ali, son of late Rifat Ali of Putamara village and Razakh Ali, son of Ikander Ali of Rayer village.
Jalalabad Union Chairman Obaidullah Ishaq Confirming the matter and said two missing persons, were returning home by boat at night due to the floods. They went missing when the boat capsized in a local storm at night.
Shahidul Islam, head of the diving team, said that three members of the diving team were conducting the rescue operation at 8 am on Monday.
