The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) observed the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace in the capital on Monday, as part of the UN’s global program.
The BOA celebrated the day-long program through a colorful rally, hoisting of Bangladesh’s and different international bodies’ and organizations’ flags at the Olympic Bhaban premises in the city in the morning and later arranged a seminar at the Dutch-Bangla Auditorium of BOA in the afternoon. The day-long program started in the morning with a colorful rally that began from Handball Stadium and concluded at BOA Bhaban after parading through Bangabandhu National Stadium premises, and Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan.
BOA Secretary General Syed Shaheed Reza inaugurated the rally at the Handball Stadium. BOA Vice Presidents Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Harun-ur-Rashid, BOA Deputy Secretary General Badal Roy, among other were present at the function.
On completion of rally, flags of Bangladesh, United Nations, International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and BOA were hoisted at the Olympic Bhaban premises in the morning
Later, a seminar was held marking the significance of the day at the Dutch-Bangla Auditorium of BOA in the afternoon where BOA national course director Mahfuzur Rahman Siddiqui presented key note paper.
BOA Secretary General Syed Shaheed Reza was the chief guest at the function, also attended by BOA Vice President Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, BOA Deputy Secretary General Badal Roy, among others.
BOA observed the day long global program in Bangladesh as per direction of United Nations and as well as for the request of IOC President Thomas Bach.
