The Bangladesh Olympic Association has taken various programs to arrange the Queen’s Baton Relay’s ahead of the 21st Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held on April 4-15 next year in Gold Coast, a coastal area in the Australian state of Queensland, said a BOA press release.
A four-member of relay tour group of the host country, led by Carry Thomson, will arrive in Bangladesh on October 9 as 52nd country with Baton as part of their global tour of all seventy one commonwealth enlisted countries.
Civil Aviation and tourism Minister Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon will welcome the tour group at airport VIP lounge.
Bangladesh Army Chief Staff Lt. Gen. Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Huq, BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza, BOA vice presidents, BOA secretary generals and Australian High Commission concern highly officials will also present to welcome the tour group.
After that a motorcade will brought out from airport to Hotel Radisson. Famed player of the country Asif Hossain Khan, Abdullah Hel Baki, Mahfuza Akter Shila, Mabia Akter Shimanto, Atkia Hasan M Tamimul Islam, and Nandini Khan Swapna will present in the baton rally.
On the following day (October 10), the relay team will pay homage to national monument and visit CRP.
On October 11, the tour team will visit museum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and will pay to homage there. They will take part a photo session at south plaza of National Parliament Bhaban and later will hand over the special commemorative flag of the Games to the representatives of Adamzi cantonment school.
The tour team will leave of Sri Lanka on October 12.
The tour group, which started their journey on March 13 from Buckingham Palace taking the secret message second Queen Elizabeth for goodwill to the people of the Commonwealth in the Baton, will reach in Australia on December 24.
It was disclosed at a press conference held on Saturday at auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association here.
BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza, Queen’s Baton Relay’s organizing committee’s convener and BOA vice president Sheikh Boshir Ahmed, BOA Deputy Secretary Generals Ashikur Rahman Miku, Asaduzzaman Kohinoor and Nojib Ahmed, BOA treasurer Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, and Australina High Commission security advisor David Jones were present on the occasion.
