Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday termed BNP’s remarks over democracy “the joke of the year” and said that the party leaders are making falsehood.
“The BNP Secretary General is making falsehood. They (BNP leaders) are talking about democracy and corruption. But their prince (Tarique Rahman) has been hiding on the bank of the river Thames (in London) for nine years with corruption charges on his shoulder,” he said.
The minister said this while addressing as the chief guest a training workshop for professional drivers at BRTA at Ekuria in Keraniganj.
Quader said BNP had introduced “curfew democracy” after the bloodshed of many military officers in the name of establishing “multi-party democracy”.
Dhaka district circle of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in association with Dhaka district police organized the workshop.
BRTA Chairman Md Mashiur Rahman joined the function as special guest with Dhaka district Superintendent of Police Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman in the chair.
Over 150 professional drivers took part in it.
