Badruzzaman Selim, BNP’s rebel mayor candidate in the Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) election, has withdrawn his candidacy supporting the party nominated candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury.
“I have withdrawn my candidacy in support of my party backed candidate and former mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury. I now ask all of my supporters and BNP men to work for Ariful Haque,” Selim said in a briefing at Ariful Haque Chowdhury’s residence on Thursday.
BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Aman Ullah Aman said in the briefing,

the party had withdrawn its previous bar on Selim and reinstated him to his earlier position.
BNP Vice-Chairman Md Shahjahan, central leader Nazim Uddin Alam, Kalim Uddin Milon, Freedom Fighter Abdur Razzak, Khandaker Abdul Muktadeer, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Sylhet metropolitan unit President Nasim Husain, Dr Shahriar Husain, Sylhet District unit General Secretary Ali Ahmed and Sylhet metropolitan unit Acting General Secretary Ajmal Bakht Sadek, among others, were present.
