The BNP on Tuesday night called upon the party leaders and workers to observe the party’s two days programme for release of Begum Khaleda Zia from the jail.
The party has asked the countrymen to offer especial prayers in all Masjids across the country after Jumma prayers on Friday, February 7, for the party chief’s immediate recovery from diseases she has been suffering for long.
The programme includes rally to be held on Saturday in front of the party’s Nayapaltan office at 2:00pm in every district headquarters. The party workers and leaders will carry posters and leaflets.
After a joint meeting of the BNP’s all units of the city at the party chief’s Gulshan office, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir outlined the programme in a press briefing.
Khaleda Zia has been admitted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) hospital after getting sick on April 1 last year.
Mirza Fakhrul said in the briefing that the party wants immediate release of Khaleda Zia who has been in jail for political reason.
“The government kept our party Chairperson in jail only for their political vengeance. We demand her immediate release from jail and adequate medical treatment,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
He said, “We are announcing the two days programme for our party chief’s immediate release from jail. We are worried about government’s ill motive behind keeping her in jail without providing her proper medical treatment.”
Several senior leaders of the party attended the meeting.
