BNP’s protest rally now tomorrow

The BNP will hold a protest rally in Dhaka on Saturday as Dhaka Metropolitan Police did not give permission to organise the pre announced programme on Thursday demanding its Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s release from jail.
“We have taken preparation to hold the rally on Saturday demanding release of our jailed chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and her proper medical treatment,” said BNP Senior Joint -Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a press briefing at the party’s central office in the city. “The protest rally was scheduled to be held in front of BNP central office at Nayapaltan around 3:00pm on Thursday. It will be held now at the same venue at 2:00pm on Saturday,” Rizvi said.
He said the token hunger strike as part of the countrywide programme in Dhaka would be held from 9:00am to 4:00pm either in the Institution of Engineers’, Bangladesh or Mohanagar Natya Mancha on July 9 subject to the police permission.
The party on Monday, announced programmes for protest rally on Thursday and token hunger strike on July 9 in the metropolitan cities and the district headquarters across the country condemning imprisonment of Khaleda Zia.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also condemned the Chhatra League’s attack on quota reformists.
He also demanded arrest and punishment to the BCL attackers.
