BNP`s ex-MP Papia sent to jail in violence cases

Court Correspondent :Three separate courts under the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon passed orders to send former BNP MP and the party’s National Executive Committee member Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papia to jail in nine cases filed with three police stations of the city for violence committed during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s shutdown and blockade of this year.Magistrates Mostafizur Rahman, Maruf Hossain and Mostafizur Rahman passed the orders rejecting her bail prayers separately after hearing. Of the nine cases, five were filed with Paltan Police Station, three with Mirpur Model Police Station and the last one case was filed with Lalbagh Police Station. Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papiya surrendered to the courts after her anticipatory bail from the High Court in the cases ended.Among others, BNP Joint Secretary General Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Advocates Mohsin Mia, Masud Ahmed Talukder and Golam Mostafa Khan moved the bail petitions on behalf of Papia.
