BNP’s demo against price hike of essentials tomorrow

The BNP will stage countrywide protest programme for Wednesday against price hike of essential items, including rice, pulse and onion.
Party Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office on Monday.
The programme was also taken to protest against the government’s decision for increasing holding taxes in city corporations and municipalities, and tariff hikes of gas and power.
Rizvi said that the protest programme would

be staged at district headquarters and metropolitan cities, including capital Dhaka.
As part of the programmes, he said their all district and city units, except Rangpur city, will hold either rallies or take out processions at their convenient time on Wednesday.
Besides, Rizvi said all the BNP thana units in the capital will also hold similar programmes the same day.
Rangpur city would remain out of the purview of the programme for the upcoming city corporation election, he said.
Rizvi also announced the BNP’s election conducting committee for Rangpur City Corporation polls with party vice-chairman Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku as its convener.
BNP’s Rangpur division Organising Secretary Asadul Habib Dulu was made its member secretary.
All executive committee member of the division also be member of the committee.
Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has urged the senior leaders of the party to go and work in favour of the party nominated mayoral candidate in Rangpur City Corporation polls.
She made the call on Sunday night while presiding over the party’s standing committee’s meeting at her Gulshan office.
A member of the standing committee preferring anonymity said the meeting also decided to participate in Dhaka North City Corporation’s Mayoral polls.
The meeting also urged the government to withdraw the allegation of money laundering against former President Ziaur Rahman’s family.
