Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said BNP’s recent call for national unity against militancy would confuse the nation and conceal its true face.
“BNP is asking for national unity in one hand, while on other, it has been proving important positions to the children of war criminals, some of who have already been hanged while others are convicted,” the minister said this on Wednesday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion held at CIRDAP auditorium in the city.
A number of NGOs jointly organized the function, where CHT Regional Council Chairman Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma alias Santu Larma, Advocate Sultana Kamal, Khushi Kabir, Dhaka University Professor Dr Swapan Adnan and Advocate Rana Das Gupta, among others, spoke.
Menon acknowledged that a national unity should be forged in order to frustrate the militants and their patrons in the country, but denied the idea of the unity with those who have been covertly encouraging extremism to implement their political agenda.
In this context, he sought cooperation from all progressive and pro-liberation forces to keep the nation united and fight terrorism together.
