The programmes include rally, discussion, hoisting party flag, placing wreaths at the grave of party founder Ziaur Rahman. The programmes were worked out at a joint meeting of the party’s newly formed execute committee’s joint secretaries general, origanising secretaries, secretaries and assistant secretaries with the leaders of its associate bodies held at the party’s Nayapaltan central office with BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the chair. After the meeting, Fakhrul announced the programmes.

Besides, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia along with party leaders and activists will place wreaths and offer fateha at the mazar of its founder ex-President Ziaur Rahman at 10.00 am on the day.
The party will also arrange a discussion at the Institution of Engineers’, Bangladesh on August 31.
Fakhrul said, they have also a plan to either to hold a public rally at Suhrawardy Udyan or bring out a clourful rally in the city on September 1 or 2 subjected to permission by authorities concerned. “We’ll seek permission from the authorities concerned to this end. If we’re permitted, we’ll finalise its schedule.”
He said, they hope the government will extend all necessary cooperation in holding their programmes in a democratic and peaceful manner. Besides, Fakhrul said a discussion will be held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on September 3 to mark the 9th jail release day of party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.
Another discussion will be held to celebrate BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s 9th jail release day that falls on September 11. At the joint meeting, Fakhrul said they have discussed announcing party’s various programmes protesting construction of Rampal Power Plant near the Sundarbans, government’s move to hike gas tariffs and militancy issue. “The schedules of the programmes will be announced later.”
He said, they have also discussed the country’s flood situation, and decided to send a party team to Faridpur on August 20 to distribute relief materials among the flood victims there.
