The BNP has announced a 12 day programme for demanding Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release from jail.
The party will be organising human chain and demonstrations from September 15 to September 28, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said it at a press conference held in the party’s central office at Nayapaltan on Thursday.
He said, the Jatiyatabadi Matshajibi Dal will hold a human chain programme on September 15, the Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal on September 16, Tati Dal on September 17, Association of Engineers,
Bangladesh on September 18, Doctors Association of Bangladesh on September 19, Jubo Dal on September 20, Ulama Dal on September 21, Mohila Dal on September 22, Krishak Dal on September 24, Sramik Dal on September 25, Agriculturist Association of Bangladesh on September 27 and Swechchhasebak Dal on September 28.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “The government is working with BAKSHAL concept to be sure that no opposition party exists.”
Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been kept in jail by the government out of its political vengeance. “She’s not getting bail, though she deserves it.”
Fakhrul said that Khaleda had been repeatedly refused bail although she deserved it. As such the BNP has designed programmes to build contacts with the people for her release.
Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a special court convicted her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8, 2018.
She has been receiving treatment at BSMMU since April 1.
