Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said, BNP may split into two factions because of diverse opinion and ideas between the leaders.
“We have no need to disintegrate the politics of BNP. They will perish themselves because lack of trust. So, no outsiders need to divide it,” Obaidul Quader said.
The Minister said this after signing a memorandum on the the construction of a four-lane highway stretching from Tangail’s Elenga to Rangpur in a city hotel on Thursday.
“Is there any need on the part of the government to split the BNP after its dismal performance in the December 30 election?” the AL leader said.
He also urged the MPs elected from BNP to attend the Parliament session. “We want strong opposition to make the debate in the Parliament lively,” he said.
He said, Jatiya Party will be the opposition in the Parliament. The party will play a strong role, he hoped.
“We have discussed with the Jatiya Party leaders. They have told us that they would be happy to play the opposition in the Parliament,” he said.
Obaidul Quader said, the present Parliament will be the most vibrant because all the opposition members are vocal.
Asking about the DNCC election, he said, the election will definitely be competitive even if BNP does not take part.
“We always welcome BNP in all the elections. But what should we do if they do not join.” He said.
