Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday said BNP wanted to send Begum Khaleda Zia abroad to enhance the anti-state conspiracy.
“They want to send Begum Khaleda Zia abroad. But, there is no legal scope. And their purpose of sending her abroad is different. Their main motive is not treatment rather to enhance conspiracy, which they are doing here, through different media including social media from abroad,” he said.
The minister made the comments while addressing a function to distribute Eid gifts on behalf of the Prime Minister among the people affected due to Covid 19 pandemic.
Awami Mathshyajibi League organised the programme at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital with its president valiant Freedom Fighter Md Sayeedur Rahman in the chair.
Hasan said the countrymen want to know the real date of birth of Begum Khaleda Zia. “I also saw on social media that the date of birth of Begum Zia was May 8, 1964 at Covid-19 test report. After that, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called a press conference on Tuesday and he might tell that it (date of birth) is not correct,” he added.
The minister said, “You have a date of birth at passport, another one at certificate and other one after being prime minister. Now, there is another date of birth at Covid-19 test report. The people of the country want to know which one is the correct date of birth.”
Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, urged BNP to avoid such politics of lies.
He said Awami League doesn’t do politics of revenge. “BNP and Begum Zia are doing the politics of revenge. For this, they celebrate fake birthday on August 15, carried out grenade attacks on August 21, made the killers of Bangabandhu as opposition leader in 1996 and stopped the trial of Bangabandhu killing,” he added.
On the other hand, he said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown her unprecedented generosity by extending Begum Khaleda Zia’s release from jail. “Our leader doesn’t do politics of revenge. BNP and Begum Khaleda Zia have a lot to learn from the sympathy that our leader has shown,” said Hasan.
AL Publicity and Publication Secretary and FF Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, MP, addressed the programme as special guest while Mathshyajibi League General Secretary Lion Sheikh Ajgar Nashkar conducted it.
